22/09/2026 News Item — ABMA Visit to Cassino, 4–11 October

A group of ABMA members will be visiting Cassino from 4–11 October to carry out light improvements across the museum grounds and review the progress made so far. The week will be informal and pressure free, with time set aside for discussion on future plans and the continued development of the Operation Diadem Museum. Some metal detecting will also take place around the sites, with the aim of uncovering additional artefacts for display.

During the visit, Nigel Spencer of the Royal Engineers Association will join the team on 7 October for a recce of the museum area. His assessment will support ongoing efforts to secure a short WWII Bailey Bridge for installation on the west side of the river, parallel to the original Amazon Bridge location. This would form a significant new feature within the museum grounds. All members are looking forward to the trip and the opportunities it brings.
